Welcome
Hi, I'm Veli, the person behind Last Paint Drop Studio. Thanks for stopping by, and for supporting a small, solo hobby business.
These Terms and Conditions explain what happens when you buy something from me through this website. Right now, that means two things:
- STL digital files, including the Modular Hobby Plate (MHP) system and related designs
- Painting commissions, where I paint miniatures for you to an agreed brief
As I add more to the shop over time, I'll update these terms to match, and I'll always flag when something meaningful changes.
By placing an order, downloading a file, or booking a commission with me, you're agreeing to these terms, so please give them a read. If anything here is unclear, email me at contact@lastpaintdrop.com before you buy. I'm always happy to explain.
Who I am
Last Paint Drop Studio is the trading name of Velizar Nikolov, operating from the United Kingdom. You can reach me any time at contact@lastpaintdrop.com.
Definitions
A few terms come up a lot below, so here's what they mean:
- I, me, my, Last Paint Drop Studio: this business, the one I run.
- You, your, buyer, customer: the person placing an order, downloading a file, or booking a commission with me.
- STL Files, Digital Files, Files: the 3D-printable design files, images, or other digital content I make available for purchase or download, including the Modular Hobby Plate (MHP) system and any related designs.
- Commission: a bespoke painting service where I paint one or more miniatures for you to a brief we agree together.
- Merchant: a person or business who has signed my separate Merchant Licence Agreement, giving them limited rights to print and sell physical products from my files.
- Website: this website and any linked checkout, store, or order page I operate.
STL Files & Digital Products
When you buy an STL file from me, you're buying a licence to use that file for your own personal, non-commercial enjoyment, not the file itself and not the underlying design.
This licence means you're welcome to:
- Print as many personal copies as you like, on your own printer, for your own use
- Print a copy as a gift for a friend
- Share photos or videos of your prints anywhere you like (tag me, I'd love to see them)
- Create custom design compatible with the system for your own personal use
It does not include the right to sell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the file or anything printed from it. Full detail on that is in What You Can't Do With My Files, below.
Files are delivered digitally (currently by email or download link after purchase). Please check your printer's build volume before buying: the Modular Hobby Plate base plate needs a print bed of at least 256mm, so it will not fit a Bambu A1 Mini or similarly sized printer. I describe every design as accurately as I can, but I can't guarantee how a specific printer, filament, or slicer setup will handle a file. Intellectual Property & Ownership
I retain full ownership of the copyright, design rights, and all other intellectual property in every STL file, design, and piece of branding I create, including the Modular Hobby Plate system and all of its modules. This is true whether a file is free or paid, and whichever channel it reaches you through (a Kickstarter reward, a purchase on this website, or anything else).
Buying a file from me means buying a personal-use licence, not the design itself. I don't transfer ownership of the underlying design to you, ever.
The only exception is the Merchant Licence Agreement. A small number of approved Merchants have separately agreed, in writing, to specific commercial printing and selling rights. Please note, that Merchant Licenses are no longer available and will not be offered in the foreseeable future.
What You Can't Do With My Files
To keep this small business running, and to keep making new designs, I need to protect the files themselves. Without my written permission, you may not:
- Resell, rent, trade, or otherwise redistribute any file I sell or share, whether for money or for free
- Upload a file to a third-party website, file-sharing platform, marketplace, Discord server, Patreon, or anywhere else someone could access it
- Print and sell physical copies for profit, unless you're an approved Merchant under a separate Merchant Licence Agreement
- Claim a file as your own work
- Remove, hide, or alter any branding, watermark, or attribution included in a file
- Use a file to train, prompt, or otherwise feed an AI or machine-learning model
If I find files have been shared or sold without permission, I reserve the right to refuse future orders, remove access to my community spaces (like Discord), and take legal action where necessary. I'd genuinely rather it never comes to that. If something above is unclear, ask me first at contact@lastpaintdrop.com.
Painting Commissions
Getting started
To start a commission, visit the Commissions page and submit a form or email me directly at contact@lastpaintdrop.com with what you have in mind: the miniature(s), any colour scheme or reference images, basing, and any deadline. The more detail you give me upfront, the better I can quote and deliver exactly what you're picturing. I'll reply with availability and a quote based on what you've described. If you later ask for something outside that original brief (extra freehand, conversion work, a different scheme), I'll requote for the change before I carry it out.
Deposit and payment
A 50% deposit is required to secure your commission. You have [48 hours] from paying your deposit to change your mind for a full refund; after that, the deposit is non-refundable, because it reserves a slot I could otherwise offer someone else. The remaining balance is due before I ship your finished piece.
While I'm working on it
I'll share progress photos as I go, and final photos once your commission is complete. Lead times I quote are honest estimates, not guarantees. Hand-painted work can't be rushed without losing the quality you're paying for, so timelines can shift, and I'll let you know as soon as I'm aware of a delay.
Slight variation from any reference images is a normal part of hand-painted, one-of-a-kind work. I always aim to match the spirit and detail of your brief, but I'm painting by hand, not printing a photo.
Your models
If you're supplying your own miniatures, they need to arrive clean, built, and ready to prime. If they're not, I may need to charge an additional prep fee or, if the scope is too big, decline the commission.
Cancellations
You can cancel before I begin painting for a refund within [48-hour] of paying the deposit. Once I've started work, the commission is a bespoke piece made specifically to your brief, so your statutory right to change your mind within 14 days (which applies to off-the-shelf goods) doesn't apply here. Your legal rights if something is genuinely faulty are unaffected, see Please Read: Limits On What I'm Responsible For, below.
I also reserve the right to decline or cancel a commission at any point, for any reason (a brief that doesn't sit right with me, a scheduling conflict, and so on), in which case I'll provide a refund.
Ownership and photos
Ownership of the finished piece transfers to you once I've received full payment. I love photographing my finished commissions to share in my portfolio, Patreon and on social media. If your commission is a gift or you'd rather I hold off sharing it for a while, just let me know before I start and I'll respect that.
Payment, Pricing & Taxes
You need to be 18 or older to place an order or book a commission with me. If you're not, please have a parent or guardian order on your behalf.
I take payment through [Shopify checkout / Stripe] in GBP (£). Prices shown at checkout are the prices that apply, and I reserve the right to change prices for future orders at any time. If I ever spot a genuine pricing error after you've ordered, I'll contact you before doing anything else.
I'm not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is added at checkout.
Refunds & Cancellations
Digital files: STL files are delivered electronically, and downloading begins right after purchase. Because of this, digital file purchases are non-refundable once delivered. By buying a digital file, you agree that you lose the standard 14-day change-of-mind right that applies to physical goods, because access begins immediately.

None of this affects your legal rights as a consumer under UK law. If something I've sold you is faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose, contact me at contact@lastpaintdrop.com and I'll sort it out.
Being Part of This Community
I built this business around a hobby I love, and I want every interaction here, on the website, over email, or in my Discord, to feel welcoming. In return, I ask that you're respectful and patient with me too. I'm a one-person operation doing my best to serve every well.
I reserve the right to decline, cancel, or refuse an order, commission, or community access if someone is abusive, threatening, or acting in bad faith (for example, attempting fraud, or repeatedly redistributing files after being asked to stop). Where I do this, I'll refund anything you've paid for work not yet completed.
Please Read: Limits On What I'm Responsible For
3D printing risk: the files I sell are designs, not guaranteed outcomes. How a print turns out depends on your own printer, settings, filament, and skill, all things outside my control. I can't be held responsible for failed prints, calibration issues, or damage to your printer or property caused by printing my files. I do my best to describe every design accurately (bed size requirements, for example) so you can make an informed choice before you buy. If there is something obviously wrong the the files, I'm always open to feedback and discussed to get this resolved!
General limits: I'm not liable for losses that were unforeseeable, caused by something outside my reasonable control (a shipping delay, for example), or that you could have reasonably avoided.
You're buying as a consumer, for personal use, not for the purposes of your own trade, business, or profession, so I'm not responsible for business losses such as lost profits or interrupted business.
Your Data
I only collect what I need to fulfil your order or commission, things like your name, email, and delivery address, and I never sell your data to anyone. Full detail on what I collect and how I use it is in the Privacy Policy.
Changes To These Terms
I may update these terms from time to time, whether that's to reflect a new product, a change in the law, or just to make something clearer. The version on this page is always the current one, and the date at the top shows when it was last updated. For a significant change, I'll do my best to flag it, for example with a note on the website or a post in my community. Continuing to use the site or placing an order after an update means you accept the new terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If a disagreement ever comes up between us, please email me first at contact@lastpaintdrop.com, I'd always rather sort things out directly. If we can't resolve it that way, these terms and any dispute are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
